We're developing one truck bed system that locks up your gear, shelters you for the night, carries overhead loads, and slides out of the way when you need the whole bed. The prototype works. The production design is being finished now, and we want your input.

The problem

Open by design.
Exposed by default.

Truck owners ask their bed to do four jobs. Nothing on the market does all four.

Carrygear in the bed and over the cab
Securelocked away from thieves
Shelterpeople and gear out of the weather
Accesseasy to load, easy to reach
A pickup with an open, empty bed
Tonneau coverSecure and accessible. No shelter, no overhead.
Shell or soft topSecure and sheltered. Hard to load, no overhead.
Ladder rackOverhead and access. Nothing locked, nothing covered.
Rack + rooftop tentSleep and overhead. Bed blocked, gear exposed.

So owners stack products. One friend went through three racks, two tents and $8,000+, and still can't get into his bed.

The concept · prototype shown

One rig. Every job.

Utility Rack · Integrated Canopy · Rail
Canopy closed over gear at a mountain overlook

Secure

Zip it closed and lock your gear in the bed.

Camping under the canopy in snow

Shelter

Sleep in the bed, out of the weather. No tent to pitch.

Canoe carried on top of the rack

Overhead

Utility bars carry boats, ladders and lumber up top.

Rack slid forward against the cab, bed fully open
The best part

Slide it
to the cab.

The whole rack and canopy ride on a rail. Slide them forward and your entire bed is open for anything.

  • Production goal: one person, operating it from the side of the truck.
  • No tools, no removal, nothing to store in the garage.
  • Fits half-ton, midsize and heavy-duty pickups.

Unedited footage of the working prototype. The production version is being designed for one person to do all of this from the side of the truck.

Rack deploy

Setting up the rack and canopy from the cab. About 5 minutes.

Rack back

Collapsing it forward to open the whole bed. About 10 minutes.

Development

Where SlickRack is today.

We're engineers and supply chain people, building this the careful way: prove it, design it for production, test it hard, then build it.

About

Useful things, built to last.

Bright Angel Industries builds and brings exceptional products to market: useful, innovative, simple, high quality and durable. Products that give individuals and families more.

Jaron Diehl

I'm a civil engineer by training. I spent my career designing high-voltage transmission structures, the kind of engineering where loads, wind and vibration aren't optional. Before that I worked oilfield resource delivery at North Dakota frac sites as an on-site pusher and truck manager, where trucks are the job. Today I'm an MBA student at BYU's Marriott School, focused on supply chain and operations.

SlickRack started with a simple frustration: every bed cover and rack makes you give something up. I watched a friend cycle through three racks and two tents and still not get into his bed. So I designed and built a better system on my own Ram 1500. Now we're turning that prototype into a product.

What drives us

Mission, vision, values.

Mission · why we exist

We build innovative truck accessories that eliminate tradeoffs and maximize utility for anyone with a truck.

Vision · where we're going

A world where every truck owner gets full use from their truck, and individuals and families have more.

Values · how we do it
  • Quality, all the way through. Engineering, materials and manufacturing held to a high standard.
  • Obsessed with helping the customer. Built around how people really use their trucks.
  • Lean by design. We're engineers and supply chain people, partnering with Utah fabricators and sewists instead of building a factory before it's earned.
